How Hypnosis Builds Clarity and Confidence

In the Beginning

Imagine a blank sheet of paper. In your mind, hypnosis builds clarity and confidence see the paper as empty of words or pictures. Just a pure white, empty sheet. Now imagine this is your brain before your first memory hypnosis clarity and confidence; at the cusp of your first consciousness.

Next, imagine using a pencil to fill the sheet with soft pencil shading. Initially, all the marks are light and small. This is your brain as it learns  clarity and confidence how to control your body. After birth, it takes months for a infant’s brain to absorb enough information to create basic behaviors like eating, speaking, hypnosis, and walking clarity and confidence. By age seven, your brain is programmed with the basic rules of life clarity and confidence ; these beliefs hold the bare minimum necessary to keep you safe and alive. If we imagine that sheet of paper, we would see the entire surface covered in light gray from edge to edge. There is no white. You came onto this planet whole and perfect. You came into this world believing that everything is available to you. You were a blank slate expressing a pure nature of love and joy, experiencing hypnosis newness in every second. As you grow “life” happens to you.

When you turn seven, your brain shifts from a highly-absorbent brainwave state to a standard, hypnosis active brainwave state. You move from theta brainwaves to beta brainwaves. This shift in brain wave frequency seals early experiences and hypnosis clarity and confidence , and deeply seats your beliefs in the subconscious realm of the mind. 95% of the human mind is subconscious. Conscious change can happen when you work with the active 5% through talk therapy, self-help books, affirmations, or mind-body intentionality. This is time consuming, and sometimes the results don’t last. Why? By working at the conscious level, we neglect 95% of the problem! There is no white on our imaginary sheet of paper because subconscious beliefs are the foundation for every experience and relationship hypnosis we have in life. Your beliefs change how your brain perceives every following moment.

First, you make your beliefs, and then your beliefs make you.

Marissa Peer, 2020

As we age, our imaginary piece of paper becomes darker and darker with gray shading. Every year we create more mental connections, add to the complexity of our thoughts, and have experiences  clarity and confidence that shift our paradigm from that moment forward. Beliefs don’t change until replaced, covered by an equal or more powerful belief. Like the shades of gray on the imaginary sheet of paper, the tone simply gets darker and darker. There is no brain eraser. There’s no way to reverse the process of seeing, thinking, or feeling. Once life happens; seeing, thinking, and feeling all have subsequent physical effects within our bodies. This changes how you perceive yourself and the world around you.

Once you believed everything was available to you. Creativity and imagination rule the life of children; they experience a time when everything is possible. Then, life experiences told you a different story. Over time, you believe the lies about who you are. Soon, you start repeating those lies to yourself. The lie is that you are not enough. You are not strong enough, beautiful enough, thin enough, smart enough; confident enough. The list goes on. These judgements arise not from within, but from outside perspectives. These lies are critiques from positions of experience toward one learning to do and be. And they damage you. Thinking that you’re not enough changes the physiology of your body and manifests as anxiety, fear, lack of confidence, low self-esteem and excess weight. What would life be like if you knew, and deeply believed, you are good enough?

Changing Meaning

If you zoom in on the imaginary sheet of paper, notice that each new experience of the brain creates a new mark on the paper. Each mark represents something explored, felt, and learned—an experience someplace in time—which connects neurons, the cells in the brain. Every second of every day you are alive, neurons connect in webs throughout the brain, and these connections give you the experience of life.

These experiences create beliefs, and then beliefs guide decisions and the direction of additional experiences—our imaginary marks on the sheet of paper. A belief is not the mark. A belief is a choice that arises from an experience. A belief is an association with something that happened (a memory) and, because our body loves efficiency, it is also pre-programming for the next time the same experience happens.

When the same experience happens to you, the pre-programming can remove active thought from the experience and replace it with a more automatic action based on belief. Have you ever driven somewhere and realized, once there, that you don’t recall actually driving? Your pre-programming kicked in and automated your life because someplace in your magical brain you hold a series of beliefs that indicate it’s okay to do that. Life is more efficient to your brain this way. Less thinking is more efficient. The body spends less calories actively thinking. Laziness is therefore more efficient. This is how many people live.

Living an automated, pre-programmed life leads to negative cycles of emotion. Beliefs, based on the stories of not being enough, influence emotions and train the body into negative emotion addiction which is felt as a downward spiral. Learning to heal and feel is a process. You don’t have to cope with anxiety forever. You don’t have to give up feeling good about yourself to take care of everyone else. You don’t have to carry around unhealthy limiting beliefs about how much money you should make. Because fear, doubt, shame, and scarcity are only true when you believe these feelings are in your life. In truth, your embrace of these words is what make you feel trapped. Wouldn’t you rather feel completely healed, anxiety free, full of conviction and confidence, and be rid of every limiting belief and block forever?

The sorrow that has no vent in tears may make other organs weep.

Henry Maudsley, 1867

Hypnosis is Different

Carl Jung described the collective unconscious and universal archetypes, or patterns of behavior common in individuals. Sigmund Freud described the constructs of the ego, id, and superego. All these words are only concepts. The concepts describe the intangible quality of how our brains develop, learn, change, grow, and relate to one another. This creates qualities of mind. The mind exists beyond neuron clusters, has yet to be physically identified by neuroscience, and holds the beliefs programmed by experience. The mind is distinct from brain, and is distanced from the physical and reactionary effects of brain.

The brain is divided into multiple physical areas with specific tasks, and which send signals throughout the body to coordinate trillions of cells and sensory influences. The mind experiences this as an event, thinks about it, and reacts to it. The brain’s reaction is faster, and can jumpstart a fight or flight response to save your life. The mind is a planner and responds after gathering information, comparing it to memory, and formulating a direction for action. Thus, mind can be slower than brain. For this reason, overcoming the automated pre-programming of brain can be difficult.

What if you teach your brain how to react like the mind desires? What if you re-framed experiences to change how your brain functions? It takes training. It can start with hypnosis. Rapid Transformational Therapy® (RTT®), combines beneficial principles of hypnotherapy, psychotherapy, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and neuroscience, to support fast, effective, and long-lasting transformation.

Hypnosis isn’t magical mind control like in the movies. Hypnosis feels more like lightly sleeping in the back of a moving car. You know you’re asleep. At the same time, you’re also conscious and aware of everything happening in the car. Nobody can make you do anything or say anything against your will. Hypnosis invites you to focus inward where the power of words and pictures can change the meaning between an experience and the belief your brain creates from the experience. Hypnosis helps change the meaning of a single idea, and by changing the meaning in the brain, this changes the meaning of all events built on that initial belief.

A Life of Clarity and Confidence

This life is the only life you get to live. You came into this world as a blank page. Every experience in your life colors your page darker. Changes in your life darkens the page more, adding complexity to the story of your life. Hypnosis uses a process similar to guided meditation to help you reach deep levels of the brain/mind connection, to examine beliefs and change the meaning of experiences. This transformation changes beliefs. The change is subtle and creates a ripple effect that actually lightens the overall tone of your life, which we feel as the tone of the brain. After years of carrying around unfair, untrue beliefs about yourself, it’s time to cut the unnecessary cords and breathe freely. Many clients report feeling physically lighter and unburdened.

The brain is a wonderful machine which runs the program of your body efficiently. Through hypnosis this program is updated, like a software update. The brain then runs the new program efficiently. Hypnotherapy seeks the root cause of an issue held in the subconscious mind and brings it to a level of conscious understanding, which is the basis for healing and change. The brain will adapt to any program we give it. As your beliefs are updated, and traumatic experiences are released, the brain shifts programming and continues to run efficiently. Why give your brain negativity and doubt when you can choose to give it positivity and support?

Neurons that fire together, wire together.

Dr. Joseph Dispenza, 2019

Unless countered by a block, your brain’s programming invisibly guides your actions toward the things, people, and experiences the brain believes best fulfill its programming. Maybe you don’t have any particular issue. Maybe your life just isn’t where you want it to be. You feel like something is missing, or that life could be better. You don’t have to wait to have a full-blown issue. Hypnosis is perfect for optimizing any aspect of your life where you want to find fulfillment. However, the brain will not choose between two competing beliefs. This creates an imperceptible block. We may wish for something, and hold a subconscious competing belief of equal strength. Another challenge is that negative thoughts tend to alert the brain to focus on the wrong aspects of a thought. If I asked you not to think about a pink elephant in a rainbow tutu, what does your brain think of?

Your imaginary piece of paper continues to darken year after year. It’s a paradigm shift to believe, “I am worthy. I am enough. I control my life.” None of this is rocket science. The same information is presented by mystics, gurus, shamans, scholars, authors, scientists, and religions and has been for thousands of years. Each teacher presents the information in a slightly different way. The journey of self-reflection and internal growth is common and happens through prayer, meditation, yoga, tai chi, qi gong, and any of a hundred other methods. Hypnosis is like working with a guide to help you on this path faster and easier than doing it on your own.

Hypnosis delivers extraordinary, permanent change from physical, emotional, and psychological pain by reframing our core beliefs, values, habits, and emotions deep in the subconscious. We tell the brain how you want the future to be. When the brain is pre-programmed with an idea for the future, processes within the brain follow subtle signs and signals that guide you in the correct direction. The brain also makes no distinction between neuron connects representing the past, present, or future. When we imagine a very precise and clear future for ourselves this pre-programs the brain to recognize patterns that lead to this outcome. The brain is excellent at pattern-matching. We don’t need to worry about how we might reach that future because the subconscious beliefs will help choose our path for us. By rapidly rewiring the brain’s neural pathways, hypnosis replaces our outdated belief systems and negative behavior patterns. The last piece of hypnosis is taking command of your life. Through hypnosis new life-affirming beliefs are formed, and the healing process begins.
